Surprise! Pam and John are about to start a new adventure! If you enjoyed last year’s adventure hike through Asturias and the Picos de Europa in northern Spain, we hope the stories from this year’s trip are just as fun and interesting. If you’re scratching your head wondering why you received this as an email or didn’t enjoy our stories, feel free to instantly unsubscribe at the bottom of this email.
Our next adventure starts May 5th, and it’s a going to be great. My (John) vote is always for returning to Spain. I love the people, the food, and the hiking! Also, I love to practice my increasingly improving Spanish. Pam teases me that at home I’m an introvert but in Spain I’m an extrovert because I’ll walk up to anyone and start talking. For Pam, who’s on the more sociable side no matter the language, not being able to interact fully with people takes away some of the adventure.
Pam deserves a full adventure, so we are off to Wales where we are hiking Glyndŵr’s Way. Pam will be able to get her interpersonal interaction on, but those place names in Welsh…oof! Some of the towns we’ll be visiting are Llanbadarn Fynydd, Llanidloes, and Machynlleth. At least we can pronounce the name of one town: Short Ditch. Our goal will be to have mastered the correct pronunciation of all towns and interesting sites we see.
The hike starts in Knighton and does a clockwise loop to Welshpool and we’re adding on trails back to Knighton. Those rolling hills, long views, spring flowers, lambs, and small towns are calling our names. We know the hike will be great because we’ve already done a large hike through England. Back in 2004 we did the Alfred Wainwright’s Coast to Coast walk across the narrow neck below Scotland. That started our love of long hiking vacations, and we can’t wait to start.
We hope you enjoy the stories of the adventure and as always, thank you so much for reading and coming along virtually with us!
So exciting!
