What is the Welcome Picture?
It was very tough to pick a single picture to represent this newsletter/blog/web site. We have had so many wonderful adventures across the world and while I try to take good pictures, rarely do I ever capture what we are seeing. But on March 10th, 2003, I got it!
Because it was my first work trip to China, Pam had to come because we never turn down adventures. We got to visit Beijing, Xi’an, and Shanghai and we found out that March is the perfect month to visit China because there were no tourists at all. At some of the most popular tourist sites in the entire country, we were sometimes the only people there. It was wonderful.
On the day we visited Badaling section of the Great Wall of China, it was snowing, cold, and even the trinket hawkers weren’t there. This is the most visited section of the Great Wall and we had it all to ourselves. With the clouds, snow, and no people all I had to do was point and shoot. This picture has been on our wall since.
